Call for Proposals

Title: “Between the Disciplines: From Theory to Practice”
Conference date: March 20-21, 2015
Location: Mercer’s Macon campus

As you may know, Peter Brown retired after 43 years at Mercer last spring.  He hasn’t fully left Mercer, and will be teaching what may be his final class here during Spring semester 2015.  The department would like to recognize Peter’s legacy by holding a conference in his honor.  We would like the conference to reflect Peter’s breadth of interests, and are planning on at least two kinds of talks: those in academic philosophy, and those concerning real-world applications relevant to Peter’s long history of community development and social change.

We would also like to compile a festschrift, a book of academic papers written to celebrate Peter and his work.  The book would not be completed until later in 2015, but this conference could be an opportunity for those of you interested in submitting a written piece for the festschrift to develop a presentation paper as a preliminary version of your contribution.

For those wishing to present at the conference, please send a proposed title and abstract by December 30, 2014 to Dr. Creighton Rosental: Rosental_c@mercer.edu
