Fifth Biennial Mercer University Undergraduate Research in MAthematics Conference

February 9, 2013

On Saturday morning we will hold a mathematics competition for students attending the MUURMaC conference. The competition is intended to be "friendly" in the same sense as those run at other universities around the country. Students will compete in teams of three on an exam made of six questions. The exam questions will vary in difficulty but will rely on material typically included in undergraduate mathematics curricula (calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, number theory, discrete mathematics, elementary topology, abstract algebra, and analysis). Exam questions may include both computations and proofs.

To register a team for the competition, students can indicate the names of their team members on the registration page. Faculty can e-mail the names of team members to Dr. Jeremiah Reinkoester at reinkoester_jn@mercer.edu. If a student desires to compete but does not have a team, please indicate this when registereing or in an e-mail to Dr. Reinkoester, as we hope to be able to create a team for them.

If you have questions not answered on this site, please contact Dr. Jeremiah Reinkoester at Mercer University.

Partial funding from this conference is provided by NSF grant DMS-0846477 through the MAA Regional Undergraduate Mathematics Conference program, http://www.maa.org/RUMC/.
