Biohazardous Waste Disposal Procedure
Biohazardous
waste consists of:
1. Materials containing human blood, human blood products, human tissue, and/or
human body fluids
released by accident
2. Other potentially infectious material (microbial cultures, biologics, etc.)
released by accident
"Potentially infectious" or "Biohazardous" waste must be handled in a specific manner
by trained individuals.
There are two (2) Mercer University departments
that are properly equipped and trained
to handle biohazardous waste disposal (from accident cleanup & response) correctly:
