ARC Tutoring Programs

The ARC provides tutoring for Mercer University students at the Macon campus and the Atlanta campus. We also provide tutoring for Mercer students at the Regional Academic Centers in Douglas County, Eastman, Henry County, and Macon. All of our tutoring labs operate on a drop-in basis so no appointments are necessary.

Macon Traditional Undergrad

The Academic Resource Center provides drop-in tutoring to students on the Macon Campus. Tutoring is providing free of charge and no appointments are necessary. In addition to providing tutors for writing and mathematics asssistance, the Academic Resource Center provides tutoring in the sciences, foreign languages and a variety of other academic disciplines. During the fall and spring semester, tutoring labs are open Sunday - Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Tutor Qualifications

All Tutors must have at least a 3.0 GPA and sophomore status or higher. Tutors provide individual assistance in one or more designated disciplines. They work in the ARC during specified hours on the weekly schedule and tutor students who drop-in during those hours. It is the primary responsibility of tutors to provide academic guidance and modeling for students who come for appointments; they do not complete homework assignments or take-home exams.

Atlanta Campus

The Atlanta writing and math labs are housed in Room 138 on the first floor of Swilley Library.  Tutoring is offered at varying times of the day Monday-Saturday each week.  Dr. William O. Lacefield, III, Professor of Mathematics Education in Tift College of Education, coordinates our tutoring on the Atlanta campus.  This service is free to all Mercer University students – no appointments necessary.

Douglas County RAC

The Douglas County writing and math labs are housed in Room 138 in the Douglas County Regional Academic Center. Tutoring is offered in the late afternoon/early evening Monday-Thursday each week, and math tutoring is available on Saturdays. This service is free to all Mercer University students – no appointments necessary.

Eastman RAC

Tutoring is conducted in the computer lab at the Eastman Center. Drop-in hours for the writing lab are available on a weekly basis. This service is free to all Mercer University students.

Henry County RAC

The Henry County writing and math labs are housed in Room 123 in the Henry County Regional Academic Center. Tutoring is offered in the afternoons and early evening Monday-Thursday each week, and extends from the morning through the afternoon on Saturdays.  This service is free to all Mercer University students – no appointments necessary.

Macon RAC

Tutoring is conducted in the Academic Resource Center located in the breezeway of the Connell Student Center.  Professional tutors hold special hours for adult learners. Adult learners are also invited to consult undergraduate peer tutors who provide assistance in a wide variety of disciplines during regular drop-in hours Sunday-Thursday, 6:00-9:00 p.m. This service is free to all Mercer University students – no appointments necessary.

Newnan RAC
